“O Lord, you took up my case; you redeemed my life. You have seen, O Lord, the wrong done to me. Uphold my cause!” Lamentations 3:58-59

When we are wronged, our hearts cry out for justice. We may feel powerless and long for revenge, yet the Lord says, “Revenge is mine.” Can we relinquish our rights and trust Him to take care of us? Despite impossible circumstances?

The desire for revenge is like a fire. May the One who offers living water bring you peace today.

BOOK REVIEW

Book1594673306-01-_AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_V34385587_.jpgUnder the Shadow of the Almighty, by Tom and Cristy George, is a powerful testimony of God’s healing power in the aftermath of tragedy. This very personal, true story tells how a widow and widower, both with newborn babies, leaned on the Lord and walked through the process of grief together while living 600 miles apart.

Through written correspondence, they discussed difficult subjects that must be confronted after the death of a spouse, and to their own surprise, fell in love along the way. The story includes their unedited e-mail letters to each other.

Understanding what it means to lose a spouse, they want others to know it is normal to have certain feelings and thoughts during the grief process. Tom brings a man’s perspective as he discusses the challenges of coping with a sudden death. Cristy brings a woman’s point of view as she shares how she dealt with a long-term illness. Under The Shadow of the Almighty has proven to be an encouragement for those facing trauma of many types and highlights the truth that God’s Word can bring healing in any situation.

This book will inspire, equip, and encourage you to minister to those who are grieving and, if you have lost a spouse, it will renew your faith and hope in God, who delights in giving you “beauty for ashes.”

Cristy writes more about the experience in her devotional, Unmarried.
