Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! (Luke 24:5, 6)

I love Easter because we celebrate life. In our physical bodies, we groan and long to be free of the daily process of dying. The good news is that the resurrected life of Jesus is ours. Because of Easter, sorrow, mourning and death are swallowed up in everlasting joy.

Rejoice! He is risen. He is risen indeed.

LIFE STORIES

“I stood across the bed from my husband as we looked down at our son, so near death. I felt the constant, deep, heart-wrenching hurt of losing such a loved one, wondering how a mother lets a dear and precious child go. It was there, with our son’s hand in mine, that I recalled the days we began life together—he and I. Desperately needing one another, glad to have each other, and content to help each other make a new and wonderful life…” Edith Hooker shares her compelling story in Jehovah Rapha: My God Who Heals.

How old is too old to get married for the first time? Ann Soden describes the surprise of her life in It Was Worth The Wait.

In The Coin, Marlene K. Yundt shares her experience with a dying man who claimed to be an atheist.

Vernie Evangelista Espanola develops a relationship with a homeless boy and reflects on the spiritual lessons she learned in The Gospel According to David.

“I got home from work to discover a message on the cell phone. What I heard sent me into a total state of shock. I began to shake as confused thoughts whirled through my head. Did I hear him right? Did the message really say what I thought it said? Or am I trapped in a nightmare?” Read an excerpt from Joan Hunter’s book, Healing the Heart, from Chapter 1, When Your Darkest Hour Lasts Longer Than 60 Minutes.
