Editor’s Letter

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (I Peter 5:6-7)

There is an important connection between humility and trusting God—these two qualities go hand in hand. In humbling ourselves before God we are saying that we submit to His dealings with us, that we accept our circumstances. How encouraging that the Lord promises to lift us up in His time. It gives hope for brighter days ahead. Nor do we have to carry our burdens alone; He’ll take them. Best of all, He assures you and me that He cares. He truly cares…

Time to leave summer fun and head back to classes. What about those of us who have long been out of school? We may not go to classes but, in a sense, we are still students. We still need to learn new things and challenge ourselves. See Back to School, by Sue Winchester

I wanted to make a good first impression, but my life had been consumed with making good impressions. That’s why I scheduled the counseling appointment in the first place. I’d been living a lie for so many years, and I desperately wanted to break free. See Good Days Ahead, by Daphne Eilein Landers

It was the kind of jazz where drums snare saxophones, trumpets exchange musical repartee with pianos, and electric guitars frenzy through winding riffs screaming right back to where they started…I sometimes wonder about the music of heaven… See Music Cafe, by Phyllis Nissila
