Linda Tells an Amazing Story of God Answering Prayer

Sometimes change comes gradual and one day you just realize that things aren’t the same anymore. And sometimes it comes in a flash like it did for our family. We had a trip planned to attend a ladies’ retreat in Georgia and we were excited. It was Monday morning and we were to leave Thursday. My daughter woke up and said she wasn’t feeling good and that she didn’t want to go to school. I checked her temperature and it was a 104! So we went to the doctor and they sent us to the hospital for more blood work. Before the day was over she was in the hospital and the diagnosis was Leukemia.

I can tell you this changed our plans and it changed our world. You expect to go to the doctor, get your antibiotic and then you’re better. Leukemia happens to other people you know? Of course we were devastated by this and my daughter burst into tears, she was only thirteen, but then the most amazing peace filled her room, and we knew that everything would be alright, even my daughter felt it.

The memory of the peace that came that day was the same peace that carried us through the surgeries, the chemo, the hair loss, the bloating from the steroids and the unbelievable cruelty of other children. Some boys called her fat and a dike; it really hurt her. But I have to say that more people were supportive and kind to her. At her age, it was not the best time to lose her hair and gain weight. It was hard for her to watch her friends lead a normal life with boyfriends and dances and, well, just everyday life. But she was a trouper and she is a stronger, better, more understanding person because of it.

Her doctor was amazed at her progress; she seemingly breezed right through her treatments. Apparently she was supposed to be hospitalized much more than she was and need things like bone marrow transplants and radiation. But she did fine with the chemo and steroids and blood transfusions and we know why! Because we prayed daily for her and believed that God was going to bring her through and He did!

In her first year of treatment we had a trip planned to go to Disney World even though her doctor said she would probably not be able to go because the chemo lowered her immune system. She was not allowed to go to school or anywhere a lot of people were. But, we prayed and asked God to make her well enough and to bring up her counts enough to be able to go and in faith we bought the tickets for the trip. A couple of weeks before we were to leave we went to our weekly visit and her counts just weren’t good enough and I said “Don’t worry, honey, we will be able to go” and then the next week at her visit her count that was normally 1.0 was an unbelievable 12! Her doctor said well I guess you can go! It was unbelievable! It was unheard of to take a vacation in your first year of treatment.

I’m telling you, God will answer your prayers if you pray in faith believing He will hear you and answer you. We did have to go through a lot, and I did have to see my daughter cry, and I did have to help her believe that God was healing her and that she wasn’t going to die. And I did have moments when I wasn’t so sure myself for a moment. But I would always remember His peace that flooded the room and comforted me with the words that everything was going to be alright.

All the glory goes to God! She is 16 and perfectly normal today. To look at her you would never know what she had been through. You might wonder at her kindness and wisdom, though! But I know it all came from “The Secret Place.” (Psalm 91)

Look to God,

Secret Place

These are dangerous times we live in, and I am not afraid
’cause Jesus lives within me and with Him I will be brave.
There is terror all around us, have you seen the news today?
You have to lock your door and watch your back
but all I do is pray.

Chorus
He that dwelleth in the secret place, He will cover with His mighty wings
He is my shield, in Him I trust, I live in perfect peace
A thousand shall fall at my side, ten thousand at my right hand
But I don’t have to be afraid, ’cause He holds me in His hands

It’s too dangerous to live without Jesus, so call on Him today
Just open the door, answer His knock, there’s no need to be afraid
You are not promised tomorrow, you better live for Him today
These are dangerous times we live in, so get on your knees and pray

Bridge
And Jesus always holds me in His loving arms.
And He always keeps me safe from the raging storm
And He’s ever watching me, He is always right there
And I know He loves me and He cares.

Be Still

Chorus
Be still, be still, be still in the presence of the Lord
Take time, to know His will in His presence for awhile be still

Verse 1
Slow your pace down, turn the TV off, then sit quietly and lift your ear to listen
Be very still and know that He is God, in His presence we must daily seek His will

Verse 2
Don’t be in a hurry, or you will miss it, Oh, the sweetness in the quiet of His presence
Don’t think about anything except how awesome that He is, be still in His presence be still

Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King
Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King

Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King
Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King

Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King
Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King

Ending
Glorious, Glorious, Glorious is our King

When Angels Sing
Words & Music ©Linda Queen Andrews

Chorus
When angels sing,
All of heaven rings they’ll have a jubilee around the throne
Another soul has decided to make heaven his home
When angels sing

Verse 1
Angels watch and wait, as people contemplate (I hear angels singing, yea)
They wonder what you’ll do, they wait for you to choose (I hear angels singing, yea)
They grip the sides of the clouds, to see who’s next who’ll come in now
they love to dance around the throne another soul has chosen home
And then we’ll hear angels sing

Verse 2
Someone is on the line, their running out of time ( I hear angels singing, yea)
I feel the Spirit move, I wonder what they’ll do ( I hear angels singing, yea)
Oh, this could be their last call, oh please choose Him and please don’t fall
Don’t leave this place the way you came, be made brand new in Jesus name
Come on stand up, go ahead, walk to the front and kneel before Him
He’ll take your heart, He’ll make a change, your life will never be the same
And then we’ll hear angels sing

When angels sing, (Glory, Glory Glory)
all of heaven rings (Glory, Hallelujah)
they’ll have a jubilee around the throne
another soul has decided to make heaven his home.
When angels sing (When angels sing)
When angels sing (When angels sing)
When angels sing (When angels sing)
When angels sing ooooohhhh
