Words of Hope to Meditate On

flowerWhen we find ourselves deeply troubled and crying out for help, our hearts ache for the comfort of hope. These scriptures will help give you a focus, a way to walk by faith towards a new dawn.

Ps. 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.”

Ps. 31:24 “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”

Ps. 33:18 “But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love…”

Ps. 38:15 “I wait for you, O Lord; you will answer, O Lord my God.”

Ps. 42:5 “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”

Ps. 69:13-14, 16 “But I pray to you, O Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters…Answer me, O Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.”

Ps. 69:29 “I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me.”

Ps. 71:14 “But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.”

Ps. 119:81 “My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.”

Ps. 119:114 “You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.”

Ps. 119:116 “Sustain me according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed.”

Ps. 130:1-2, 5 “Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord; O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy…I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.”

Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark.
