Study Guide #11—God the Judge

study

By Kay Smith and Ruth Wood

Because God is holy and righteous, God is qualified to judge the earth He created (and because He is sovereign, He does judge).

l. Let’s look at some examples of His judgments to see what kind of a judge He is. Read Numbers 13 and 14:1-28. What sin was committed (14:1-10) and how was it judged?

2. Who was blessed, why and how?

3. II Samuel 6:1-11. Who did God judge, why and how?

4. Did Christ’s coming put an end to judgment? Read John 5:22-24 and Mark 16:15-16.

5. Who is the Judge now and on what basis does He judge? What kind of “sentences” does He give?

6. Read Revelation 6 and 16. What will God’s future judgment be like? Who will be judged, why and how?

7. What does it mean that God is a righteous judge?

8. What significance does God as a righteous judge have in your life and the lives of those around you?
