Study Guide #2b—Creator of Me

study

By Kay Smith and Ruth Wood

God is our creator. Just as no two snowflakes are alike, He made each one of us unique. What can we learn about God when we consider how He created us?

1. Read Genesis 1:20-31 and 2:7. In what ways were animals and people created similarly?

2. In what ways was man’s creation different?

3. From your general knowledge of scripture, how else is man different from animals?

4. Read Psalm 139:13-18. In verses 13-16, what words or phrases does David use to tell how God made him?

What parts of him did God make?

How good of a job did God do?

When and where did God create him?

Verse 16: Having created David, did God then sit back to find out what this creature would do with his life?

Verse 17-18: How involved is God in David’s life now (that is, when David was living)?

How would you summarize these verses?

5. Do you believe that God created you and cares for you in the same way that He created and cared for David? Why or why not?

6. If you’re interested in other passages where God speaks of creating individuals or tells about them before they’re born, here are a few:

Genesis 16:10-12
Genesis 17:15-21
Genesis 25:21-24
Job 10:8-11
Jeremiah 1:4-5
Luke 1:13-16, 41-44
Luke 1:30-33
Ephesians 1:4
