Study Guide #6b—Gracious God

study

By Kay Smith and Ruth Wood

Review: What is the natural moral condition of all humans? (If unsure, reread Romans 3:9-20.) If God were only just, what judicial sentence would He pronounce on all mankind? (Romans 2:5-9)

1. Read Ephesians 2:1-10. In what state were we all before God rescued us (verses 1-3)?

2. Ephesians 2:4-10: What has God done? List different elements of God’s grace:

Why has He done this?

What has our part been?

Have we experienced all of God’s grace yet?

From the passage, give an example of the extent of God’s grace.

3. Because God’s character is gracious, He still bestows grace in more than one way. What do these passages tell us about God’s grace and His gifts to us?

Romans 12:3-8

I Corinthians 15:9-10

II Corinthians 8:1-5

II Corinthians 8:9

II Corinthians 12:9

Philippians 1:29 (the word “granted” is the same as “grace-given.”)

Hebrews 4:15-16

4. If you haven’t done so recently, thank God for His grace and mercy shown to you.
